Adding Videos

Here鈥檚 guidance on how to add videos to your webpage.

Video Criteria

Web publishers should include only professionally produced video content on the TU website with a minimum resolution quality of 720p, or standard HD. Embedded TU YouTube videos must be captioned to comply with accessibility guidelines.

While YouTube鈥檚 speech recognition technology provides the opportunity for automatic captioning, this does not mean that the captioning process is complete. In order to guarantee accuracy, you must review the captions to be certain they reflect what is being communicated.

Videos from the official have already been captioned.

Video Options

Embedded Video

All embedded media must be approved by the Division of University Marketing and Communications and follow TU accessibility guidelines.

Videos that are either audio-only or include no audio will likely require a transcript to comply with accessibility requirements.

To have an approved YouTube or Vimeo video embedded on your webpage, complete an request and provide the YouTube or Vimeo link as well as the page URL (and location on the page) where you need the video embedded.

In-Content Carousel Gallery

You can add a video to the first image in an In-Content Carousel Gallery.

To do this, you can either fill out an request or reach out to Digital Strategy directly.

Please include:

YouTube or Vimeo link
Indication that you want the video added to an In-Content Carousel Gallery, placed over the first image of the gallery. This image should be a representative 鈥渢humbnail鈥� photo of, or from, the video.

Exterior of the Center for the Arts — The College of Fine Arts and Communication.

Exterior of the lecture hall building — The 吃瓜网 University Lecture Hall.

In-Content Carousel Block Callout

You can add a video to an image in the In-Content Carousel Block Callout.

To do this, you can either fill out an request or reach out to Digital Strategy directly.

You will need to indicate the YouTube video link and indicate that you want the video added to a specific image or thumbnail the In-Content Carousel Block Callout.

University Union

The University Union is the hub of co-curricular activities and programs for the campus, as well as home to a multitude of student services.

Video Hyperlink

You can link to an external video within the text of your Web page by introducing the video content with a header and/or introductory text and linking the video title.

Obtaining a Thumbnail Image for Your Video

If you DO NOT have a thumbnail image for your video, you will need to have an image extracted from the video and then have that photo cropped and have it added to Modern Campus CMS.

Digital Media Services will extract and crop a thumbnail that you can attach to the OTS TechHelp request or to your email to Digital Strategy for adding your video to a given page.
